Craft Wednesdays - Another Nappy Cake

As mentioned in my previous post, my friend asked me to make another nappy cake for her cousin. The baby shower was Saturday so last week I spent some time putting it together.

My friend's cousin knew she was having a boy so she wanted a blue and white themed cake.

Beauty Review Tuesday - Sparkly NOTD and a First POTD

Champneys Nail PolishI like to have painted nails most of the time - it doesn't always go to plan of course, being a mother of two its hard to find the time to do these sorts of things for myself! I also have a tendency to chip nail varnish quite quickly so its requires regular maintenance!

My toe nails on the other hand last a lot longer so they are almost constantly sporting some sort of shiny polish.

Family Friday - Kent Life

On Saturday my husband and son went off to watch the FA Cup Final at Wembley. It was The Boy's first football match so I was so pleased for him that Arsenal won, I think he would have been gutted if they'd lost.

That left Dennis and I at a loose end for the day so we got together with a friend of mine and her 6 month old baby and took ourselves off to Kent Life for the day. Billed as 'Kent's Rural Heritage Experience', its basically a farm-type place. Its located in Sandling in Maidstone and was fairly easy to find.

Fitness Thursday - Kettlebells

So for my birthday recently I asked for a set of Kettlebells. Yes that was probably weird but I've heard so many good things about them that I just had to give them a try.

A friend and I have a regular 'exercise date' on a Thursday evening but she has problems sometimes in that she uses her back too much when doing ab work, so we decided before she gave the KBs a go, that we should have a class to get our technique right.

Recipe Review Monday - Sticky Toffee Pudding

This is one of my ultimate puddings - I adore it! If its on a restaurant menu you can almost guarantee I will order it but it has to be with ice cream, not custard - oh and plenty of yummy toffee sauce!

So when I saw Simon Hopkinson cooking this on his programme, it looked so good I had to give it a go.

Style Sunday - Seeking Advice

I don't consider myself at all stylish (god that's a good start, isn't it?!) and I often wonder how people making it look so effortless. Without some serious thought I swear I would regularly leave the house looking like I raided the nearest skip for people's worn out cast offs.

Anyhoo, I digress - I went shopping this week, not a major spree as funds are tight, as I mentioned in a previous post but I had a little wander around my local Asda and Primark stores and left with a couple of items that are a bit 'different' for me.

Family Friday - McBusted

I know, I know, McBusted is not really a 'family' thing but its something I did recently that I really enjoyed and wanted to share with anyone who is reading!

McBusted
Now being just shy of 30 (well 2 years but it feels closer than I'm comfortable with!), I'm about the right age to have been a Busted fan the first time round and, although I've often been teased by my 'cool' friends - I absolutely love McFly (two of them are on my freebie list - Danny & Harry). Despite this I've never been to see them perform live so when they announced they were joining forces with Busted (well Matt and James anyway) for a tour, it seemed like the perfect opportunity.

Fitness Thursday - My Goals and Plans

Now let me start by getting something straight - I don't think being curvy (or 'fat' as some people would say) is ugly. I follow quite a few plus size fashion blogs, in fact more than non-plus size (is that the right terminology?!) blogs and I think these ladies, as one of my favourite bloggers Mrs BeBe would say, look absolutely banging! I however am a size 16 and an extremely uncomfortable one.

Craft Wednesday - Nappy Cakes

About this time last year my sister-in-law was quite heavily pregnant with my niece. With her baby shower coming up I knew I wanted to do something nice for a gift for her. We had already decided to give her a gift voucher for a Memory Quilt from Patchwork Castle - we had one done for Dennis with various items of clothing from her first year and it's absolutely stunning. I would say it's the keepsake item I'm most pleased with and I hope she will treasure it forever. A gift voucher isn't the most exciting gift at a baby shower though so I wanted to do something else.

Beauty Review Tuesday - NSpa Skincare

I'm a bit of a beauty junkie - I love trying new things be it skincare, make up, hair care, you name it, I want it! However at the moment we're saving for a new house and my husband is out of work (Great timing for him to be made redundant! Isn't life a hoot?!), which means my budget for shiny new things is seriously depleted. I was running low on skincare a while ago but I'd heard good things about NSpa so I decided to give it a whirl.

Recipe Review Monday - Triple Chocolate Brownies

Now I'll admit, this recipe is not new to me - I've been making it for about the last 12 years quite regularly for various occasions. It's my most requested 'thing to bring' when attending barbecues or other events. And they always go down an absolute storm.

In Summary

So I've already told you about me and what I intend to write here (and I did that quite some time ago and have failed to come back and add anything else!) but I thought as the content is likely to be varied, I would stick to a pattern so if there's something you're not interested in, you can easily avoid those posts... (please note, though my intentions are good I do have two children, a job and other things so I may not always manage to post every day of every week!)
